The Fungus that Could Change Your Life

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

I savor mushrooms.

I eat them raw, stuffed, grilled and marinated. I sautee them with onions. I put them in salads, wraps, soups and stews. I chop them up and toss them into dips and sauces.

Forget Testosterone Therapy. This is Better.

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

April 17, 2019

I don’t think a single week goes by without two or three male patients asking me to write them a prescription for testosterone replacement therapy (TRT).

And I have to admit. The commercials for male hormone replacement are tantalizing.

Are You a Victim of Inflamm-Aging?

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

April 15, 2019

I can’t tell you how many times a day I hear the same, common thread among patients in their 50’s, 60’s and 70’s.

“I guess this is what I can expect now that I’m getting older.”

“Everybody my age has these kinds of problems, right?”

“If this is what I feel like now, I can’t even imagine how I’ll feel in 10 years.”

“Getting old sucks!”

Well I’ll share a little secret with you. Aging – the passing of years – isn’t the reason most people start feeling older and sicker. It’s chronic inflammation.

The connection between inflammation and poor health is so closely linked that today there’s even a term for it: Inflamm-aging. And it’s a scourge that’s running rampant here in the U.S.

Persistent inflammation plays a role in almost every chronic degenerative disease associated with getting older. Arthritis is a prime example of inflammation run amok. It’s also linked to heart disease, stroke, cancer, Alzheimer’s and asthma, just to name a few.

MD Exposes the Hidden Danger to Your Eyes

When your eyesight starts to fail, it's a real problem. Suddenly you can't go to the grocery store... you can't get to the doctor if you have an emergency... you can't meet your friends for dinner…

Your "regular" doctor doesn't have time to keep up with the latest research. And the same goes for eye doctors. They go to school to learn how to fit you for glasses and contacts, but have no way of preventing the damage and loss of eyesight that threatens your freedom and independence.

Let me show you something that explains a LOT about how your eyes work.

In my FREE Special Report, I'll show you a HUGE, untapped resource for your eyes that safely and naturally restores clear, effortless eyesight.

Like most of my patients, you probably already know that sugars, packaged foods, processed meats and fried foods all produce an inflammatory response in your body.

What you may not recognize is that many healthy-sounding foods do the same.

Omega-6 fatty acids sound like they’re good for you, but they aren’t. These inflammatory fatty acids compete with inflammation-fighting omega-3s to take up space in your tissue. And when they outnumber omega-3s the consequences can be devastating – promoting heart disease, cancer, osteoporosis, autoimmune disease and premature aging.

Tip: Give up the omega-6 rich vegetable oils and opt for EVOO, extra virgin olive oil instead. Increase intake of omega-3 fatty acids to offset the inflammatory response generated by the abundant amounts omega-6’s found in today’s modern foods. But…

Choose your sources of omega-3 rich fish carefully. There is a huge difference between wild-caught and farm-raised fish. When you buy farm-raised, you expose yourself to all sorts of inflammatory compounds. The most common are polychlorinated biphenyls, which have a direct link to obesity and diabetes.

Tip: Always invest in high-quality, wild-caught fish for your meals.

“Nourishing” whole grains may not be as wholesome as they sound. These days everyone is rushing out to buy more nourishing whole grains as if their life depended on it. If you’ve been caught up in this craze, I urge you to stop right now. Sure, they sound so wholesome… if only they weren’t loaded with an inflammatory protein that you’ve heard a lot about in recent years: gluten. Plus the use of glyphosate on the soil pre-planting or on the wheat itself is widespread on U.S. farms.

Tip: Grains that contain gluten include wheat, barley and rye and should not be a part of your diet. Amaranth, buckwheat, millet and quinoa are much better choices if you want to slash inflammation.

Dairy is not the healthiest source of calcium in your diet. I notice that a lot of patients still place a lot of faith in dairy products to supplement their calcium needs. But that’s a bad idea.

You may not realize it, but your body was designed to quit digesting milk somewhere between the ages of two and five. (That’s when it probably stopped producing the enzyme that digests the main sugar found in milk.)

As a result, all of those undigested sugars end up fermenting in your colon where they create a state of chronic inflammation.

Plus, commercial dairy products are full of drugs, hormones(rBGH) and antibiotics that can easily provoke an inflammatory response.

Tip: Almond, coconut or rice milk are all great alternatives to cow’s milk. Broccoli, kale, turnip greens and arugula all have high calcium content, too.

This is the short list. And clearly, making just a few simple changes in your diet can count for a lot when it comes to fighting off inflammation and slashing your chances of age-related disease.

But while you are doing that I have a quick, easy and inexpensive way to help you soothe inflammation at the source. It’s a simple tip that puts smiles back on my aging patient’s faces… and helps them feel young again.

Slash Inflammation at it’s Root

One of my favorite spices is turmeric. This vibrant yellow spice is loaded with a powerful antioxidant called curcumin that can help you put the brakes on all sorts of health problems associated with aging. And medical science is proving it, over and over again.

It shuts down inflammation by blocking enzymes that produce pain. It improves endothelial function, which is vital to your heart health. It helps clear out amyloid plaques that are so common in Alzheimer’s disease. It improves the function of beta cells, which are necessary for proper insulin function

Curcumin also shows great promise in the fight against cancer. Research suggests it might prevent precancerous cells from turning into full-blown cancer. That it could even kill cancer cells in their tracks, and stop more cancer cells from growing.

When you combine this life-giving spice with other herbs like rhodiola rosa and ashwagandha, it goes to work even further to reduce your inflammatory response.

These two adaptogenic herbs slash stress and anxiety levels that spur your body’s production in inflammatory compounds. They keep you calm, cool and collected.

If you need a little help shutting down the fire that is burning inside of you… the chronic pain, inflammation and stress that may be contributing to your health issues… check out this ultimate anti-inflammatory compound that I helped my friends at Uniscience Group produce.

Finally! The American Heart Association Agrees with Me

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

April 12, 2019

For decades I’ve warned my patients and readers against the use of low-dose aspirin for the prevention of cardiovascular disease. And today, the American College or Cardiology and the American Heart Association are closer than ever to agreeing with me.

Just last month they just released their latest guidelines on the prevention of cardiovascular disease. And I am happy to see their latest stance on low-dose aspirin is much more in alignment with my own.

In their own words, “Aspirin should be used infrequently in the routine primary prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease because of lack of net benefit”. They also admit that the bleeding risks associated with aspirin may outweigh the benefits.

This has been long in the coming. In the meantime, a lot of damage has been done. Continue reading

At Risk for Prostate Cancer? Don’t Castrate Yourself Just Yet.

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

Unless I have a male patient who is at high risk of prostate cancer, I don’t recommend PSA testing.

First and foremost, PSA is not a test for prostate cancer. It doesn’t say “Yes, you have it.” It doesn’t say “No, you don’t have it.”

All the test can do is measure levels of prostate-specific antigen a protein made by the prostate gland. And there are any number of non-cancerous reasons you might have high PSA levels. Continue reading

New Ploy Tempts You to Use More Artificial Sweeteners

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

April 1, 2019

Oh what the food industry won’t do to make foods and beverages – and now artificial sweeteners – sound a lot healthier than they are!

I was actually unaware of the latest trend until a patient pulled a handful of sweetener packets from her handbag, held them up and said “Look Doc, I finally found an artificial sweetener that’s good for me.”

When I examined the packets, labeled Equal® Plus™, they contained exactly what I expected to find; aspartame and acesulfame potassium.

What I didn’t expect to discover is that the makers of Equal® have apparently started adding vitamins and minerals to some of their products. Continue reading

URGENT: When RX is more Dangerous than Disease!

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

March 27, 2019

When new patients come into my clinic they’re often loaded down with a bag full of prescription drugs. This includes all sorts of meds… statins, blood thinners, anti-diabetics, antidepressants and so much more.

And when I start digging I usually find that it all started with one prescription.

For example, I find that patients taking statins often end up on diabetic medications in the short-term. (In most cases, they are pretty sure their doctor never explained to them that statin users have about a 38% higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.)

At the same time, diabetic drugs like metformin can cause a great deal of gastrointestinal distress. This includes heartburn, stomach pain, nausea, gas, and diarrhea or constipation. Some physicians may adjust or switch out the medication. But many of them will just add an antacid or a proton pump inhibitor like Prilosec or Nexium to offset the symptoms. Continue reading

This is REALLY serious. Silent killer affects 1 in 3 people

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

March 25, 2019

I’m very concerned about the health of your liver. And for good reason.

Today, there is a growing epidemic of a “silent” liver disease. At minimum, about one in three people here in the U.S. have it. But I’m convinced there are a lot more folks with this devastating liver disorder who have never received a diagnosis for it.

4 Reasons You Aren’t sleeping as Well as You Should

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

March 22, 2019

A lot of my patients don’t get enough sleep. But oddly enough, the majority of my sleep-deprived patients don’t actually suffer from a true sleep disorder.

Most of them have simply developed certain habits that keep them from falling asleep on time – and often cause them to wake up during the night.

I also have a handful of patients who don’t see the sense in spending hour upon hour snoozing. They think it’s a waste of time. “I can sleep when I’m dead,” they tell me.

As far as I’m concerned, this is a horrible approach to sleep. Continue reading
