Why Alzheimer’s Drugs Don’t Work

Well Big Pharma and the FDA are up to their usual shenanigans with the new Alzheimer’s drug. It’s called aducanumab, and is being sold under the trade name of Aduhelm.

There is no way this drug should have been approved. The FDA’s own expert advisory committee unanimously rejected the drug. They even said they didn’t see any benefit in performing any additional studies on it.

But the FDA granted the approval anyway. In their own words “The FDA has determined that there is substantial evidence that Aduhelm reduces amyloid beta plaques in the brain and that the reduction in these plaques is reasonably likely to predict important benefits to patients”.

If you read that, all it says is that the drug reduces amyloid plaques. And we know from long history that reducing the plaques is NOT likely to benefit patients. It will not cure or prevent Alzheimer’s. In fact, it’s been shown to make it worse.

Worse, one of the side effects is bleeding or swelling in the brain. So regular brain scans will be necessary for anyone receiving it. Oh, not to mention that it runs about $56,000 per patient each year.  Or the fact that it wasn’t even tested on patients with Alzheimer’s disease. Only on people with mild cognitive impairment or mild dementia – who had no noticeable improvements in their condition.

In the end, it could be the worst thing that could happen to an Alzheimer’s patient.

You see, we’ve seen over and over again that getting rid of beta amyloid and tau protein doesn’t work. They say “oh, we’ve got to get rid of this plaque”. Then they get rid of the plaque and it didn’t work. It just made things worse. Hmmm.

MD Exposes the Hidden Danger to Your Eyes

When your eyesight starts to fail, it's a real problem. Suddenly you can't go to the grocery store... you can't get to the doctor if you have an emergency... you can't meet your friends for dinner…

Your "regular" doctor doesn't have time to keep up with the latest research. And the same goes for eye doctors. They go to school to learn how to fit you for glasses and contacts, but have no way of preventing the damage and loss of eyesight that threatens your freedom and independence.

Let me show you something that explains a LOT about how your eyes work.

In my FREE Special Report, I'll show you a HUGE, untapped resource for your eyes that safely and naturally restores clear, effortless eyesight.

Here in the functional medicine community, we believe that these are your brain’s way of protecting itself from things like inflammation, microbes, high blood insulin and sugar levels and viruses. And the fact that Alzheimer’s disease progresses much faster in patients who take the drugs that get rid of the plaque tends to prove that point.

The brain builds the plaque to protect itself from an onslaught of terrible things that would hurt the brain. Unfortunately, the side effect of having plaque that interferes with neuronal transmission when it gets big enough is Alzheimer’s.

But it’s the brain’s way of trying to protect itself. That’s why none of these drugs work.

Herpes on the Brain

Oxidative stress, genetics, chronic high blood sugar with high insulin, viruses, lack of sleep, chronic inflammation from toxins in our environment …

They all play a role in Alzheimer’s.

But there are two, in particular, that I want alert you to.

The first involves the herpes virus. It turns out that DNA from the herpes virus is more abundant in the brains of patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s than those without. And this makes a lot of sense. Because as I mentioned earlier, amyloid plaque accumulates as part of our brains’ defense against infections.

However, there is a way to silence the herpes virus. All you need to do is ensure that your L-lysine intake is higher than your L-arginine intake. Lysine works to prevent activation and replication of herpes. Arginine works just the opposite. It tends to stimulate the virus.

There are many foods that contain both nutrients, but with a ratio favoring lysine.

Are You Suffering From...

  • Love handles and a pot belly
  • Romance that isn't what it used to
  • Forgetfulness and inattention
  • Low (or no) strength and endurance
  • A sex drive that's shifted into neutral...or worse

If so...you may have Mature Male Burnout.  Click here to discover more about this unique condition and what you can do about it.

Fruits like papaya, mango, apricot, apple, pear, fig, avocado and pineapple.

Tomatoes, turnips, celery, summer squash and green beans also have a good lysine/arginine ratio. Greens, such as spinach, kale, turnip greens and endive have about equal amounts of lysine and arginine.

Most fish, including salmon, mackerel and sardines. Poultry and, to a slightly lower extent, beef.

Your Brain on Sugar

The other thing I wanted to talk about is the effects of high blood sugar and high insulin on the brain. This is one of the main concerns for Alzheimer’s. These factors cause oxidative stress and inflammation.

One of the reasons why high blood sugar is a potential cause of Alzheimer’s is because the sugar binds with what we know of as hemoglobin A1C to form what is called advanced glycation end products… AGES; misfolded proteins that add fuel on the fire of potential chronic systemic inflammation.

And the more hemoglobin A1C you have, the more misfolded proteins you’ll have – especially in your brain. This is why Alzheimer’s is often called type 3 diabetes.

Ultimately, your first line of defense against Alzheimer’s should be your dinner plate…

In addition to adding plenty of colorful, healthy, plant-based foods and staying active, make sure to stay away from refined carbohydrates including white flour, rice and sugar.

Another specific step you can take today is to start eating more curcumin in your diet. Curcumin is found in the spice turmeric – which is a main component of curry.

It’s a fantastic natural anti-inflammatory substance. In fact, one of the reasons why India does not have the level of Alzheimer’s or arthritis pains that we have in the States is because they eat curry… every single day!

If you want the most concentrated version of curcumin, you can purchase curcumin capsules. Regular turmeric spice powder only has about 5% curcumin in it. I recommend taking 1.0 gram (1,000 mg) of curcumin two times a day.

Remember, the most important medicine you can take is on the end of your fork not at the bottom of a prescription bottle.
