Does my food ALWAYS have to be Organic?

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

April 29, 2016

  • Commercially available foods you should never eat
  • When it comes to meats, quality counts the most
  • Produce doesn’t always have to be organic

You know that eating fresh, naturally-produced foods can add years to your life – and let you enjoy extra years with a sharper brain, stronger body and more youthful energy.

But if you don’t have a Whole Foods or other health oriented, organics available food store nearby, it may not be as easy to stock up on these foods as you would like.

When this happens, you probably end up buying a lot more conventionally produced foods than you would prefer.

If this concerns you, it should. Continue reading

Are Your “Natural” Foods REALLY Natural?

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

  • What the FDA has to say about “natural” food
  • How to guarantee 100% natural food all of the time
  • Tell the government what you REALLY think

How often do you stand in front of the refrigerator or kitchen cabinet, trying to decide what you’re going to eat?

Well, if you lived a few centuries ago, you wouldn’t have had much of a choice. Your only option would have been to eat whatever was available. And your selections would be pretty slim.

If freshly caught meat was available you’d dive into it with relish. But more often than not, you’d end up gathering berries, herbs, nuts and other plant-based foods for your next meal.

These days, eating is much more complicated. And it’s not nearly as healthy – even when it sounds like it is. Continue reading

GMO Battle Heats Up

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

  • GMO labeling controversy isn’t over yet
  • The chilling truth about GMOs
  • Protect your right to know

Recently, there’s been a flurry activity to prevent a new law from going into effect in Vermont.

You see, back in 2014 this tiny state was the first in the nation to pass a law requiring mandatory labeling of genetically altered foods. And it goes into effect in just a few months… on July 1st.

Of course, this sent Monsanto and the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) into a panic.

As a result, Big Ag supporters are scrambled to get approval for the DARK (Deny Americans the Right-to-Know) Act. This is a bill that would prohibit any mandatory labeling of genetically engineered food at both the state and federal level.

While it passed through the Senate Agriculture Committee, it stalled out in the Senate a few weeks ago. In a surprising turn of events, it didn’t gain the full number of votes that were needed to clear the bill.

However, there’s no assurance negotiations are over. In fact, they’re expected to continue in the hopes of bringing a new vote to the Senate floor at a later date.

So don’t think this issue has been put to rest. It hasn’t. Continue reading

4 Nutrients for Stronger Bones

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

March 21, 2016

  • Weak bones aren’t confined to the elderly
  • Foods that are robbing your bone strength
  • 4 nutrients for stronger bones

You might think you’re protected from bone loss, fractures and breaks because you’re still in your 50’s or 60’s. But I’ll bet you didn’t know that about 40% of folks in this age group already have low bone mass in their hips or spine.

And it’s not just a “woman’s” problem. More than one in three men is vulnerable to this condition.

In fact, the husband of one of my patients recently had a minor fall in the bathroom. He’s only 62 years old, and ended up in the hospital with a broken hip. Two of the four breaks occurred in his femur, which is the longest and strongest bone in your body.

So if you think you’re still too young (or the wrong sex) to worry about bone breaks, think again.

One of the reasons you might be losing bone density is the foods you eat. A lot of today’s foods simply don’t support healthy bones.

For example, the American dairy industry markets milk as a way to build strong bones and prevent osteoporosis.

Breathe Away Morning Fatigue

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

March 11, 2016

  • The most overlooked cause of low energy
  • 3 nutrients to boost adrenal function
  • Just five minutes to lower cortisol levels

Do you ever feel like everyone else in your house wakes up “bright-eyed and bushy-tailed” each morning, while you have to drag yourself out of bed?

Maybe it doesn’t matter what time you wake up. It could be six, seven or eight in the morning. Yet, it still takes you about three or four hours to shake off that morning brain fog and get moving.

Then, you suddenly feel great… for a few hours.

But by the time three or four o’clock rolls around, that fatigue sets in again. If there’s a bed anywhere near you, you’ll fall into it for a quick nap.

Finally – somewhere around six or seven in the evening – your body and brain suddenly pull themselves together and you’re ready to roll! Of course, by then the best part of the day is gone. Continue reading

Crush Cancer Before it Starts

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

February 29, 2016

  • Most cancers aren’t hereditary
  • Eat your way to a cancer-free life
  • Two more ways to crush cancer before it starts

There’s no doubt about it. A lot of the diseases we associate with aging are frightening. But, by far, the idea of developing cancer is one of the most disturbing. It can be deadly, and there simply isn’t a cure for it.

Now, you might think that if there’s a history of cancer in your family it makes you a prime candidate.

That isn’t true. In fact, only a small number of cancers – about 5% to 10% – are directly attributed to genetics. The remaining 90-95% is rooted in the way you live your life. Continue reading

January 27, 2016

• The gnawing hunger in your gut
• What’s driving your appetite?
• 3 ways to shut down constant hunger

In last Friday’s issue of Advanced Natural Wellness, I addressed what may be the underlying cause of some of your cravings for specific foods. This sparked interest in another topic which is quite similar…

Why do I feel hungry all the time?

Believe it or not, I get this question a lot. Here in the U.S., we have an abundance of food at our fingertips. Yet many folks can’t seem to get rid of that underlying “gnawing hunger” in their gut. Continue reading

Why Antibacterial Soaps Don’t Stop Colds or Flu

By David Blyweiss, M.D., Advanced Natural Wellness

In This Issue:

  • Antibiotics won’t help you beat off the cold or flu
  • The dangers of antibacterial soaps
  • Nature’s best remedies for cold and flu

Well, it’s official. Cold and flu season is here.

Some of my patients are loading up on antibacterial soaps and hand sanitizers. Others are showing up at my office with runny noses and hacking coughs…along with demands for an antibiotic.

If you fall into either of these categories, let me set the record straight. Continue reading
